Q: How do I restart the game?

A: When the "Game Over" screen appears, simply tap the "Play Again" button. It will appear instantly!

Q: My high score didn't save?

A: High scores are saved automatically to your Apple Watch. If you uninstall the app, your local high score will be reset.

Q: Why don't I see numbers 11, 12, 13?

A: We use standard playing card ranks: Jack (11), Queen (12), King (13), and Ace is Low (1).

Q: How do I join the global leaderboard?

A: Scroll down on the main screen and tap "Leaderboard", then tap "Join" and enter two or three initials. Joining is completely optional — you can browse the board without joining, and until you join your scores never leave your watch. You need to be signed in to iCloud to join, though anyone can view the board.

Q: How do I get off the leaderboard?

A: Open the Leaderboard screen and tap "Remove Me". That permanently deletes your entry. Your high score on your own watch is kept. You can also email us and we'll remove it for you.

Q: I've seen an offensive name on the leaderboard.

A: Initials are filtered automatically, but nothing catches everything. Email syrupy-web.3f@icloud.com and we will remove it.

HiLoWatch is a simple card game. This policy explains exactly what leaves your Apple Watch and what does not.

What stays on your device

Your high score, games played, and app settings are stored locally on your Apple Watch using the system's standard app storage. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

The optional global leaderboard

HiLoWatch includes an optional global leaderboard. You are not on it unless you choose to join. Anyone can open the Leaderboard screen and read the board without joining and without an iCloud account. Joining means tapping "Join" and entering two or three initials.

If you join, the following is uploaded to Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) service, into a public database owned by the developer:

The two or three initials you choose — to label your entry. Visible to everyone using the app.
Your best score — to rank you on the board. Visible to everyone using the app.
An iCloud user identifier supplied by Apple — so that only you can update your own entry. Not displayed to anyone.

That identifier is generated by Apple, is specific to this app, and does not reveal your name, email address, or Apple Account to us or to other players. We never see your Apple Account details.

Reading the leaderboard does not require an iCloud account. Joining it does, because that is how your entry is tied to you and protected from being overwritten by anyone else.

What we never do

We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers.
We do not track you across other apps or websites.
We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, or health data.

Changing or removing your leaderboard entry

You can change your initials at any time from the Leaderboard screen.

To remove your entry entirely, tap "Remove Me" on the Leaderboard screen, or email syrupy-web.3f@icloud.com and we will delete it. Note that deleting the app does not by itself remove an entry you have already published.

Reporting an offensive name

Initials are filtered automatically, but if you see something offensive on the leaderboard, email syrupy-web.3f@icloud.com and we will remove it.

Data retention

Leaderboard entries are kept until you remove them or ask us to remove them.

Children

HiLoWatch is rated 12+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has joined the leaderboard, contact us and we will remove the entry.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you can ask us what data we hold about you and ask for it to be deleted, at syrupy-web.3f@icloud.com. Our lawful basis for processing leaderboard data is your consent, given when you choose to join.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last Updated" date above will change with it.
